Ray The Plumber in Matinecock is rediculously overpriced and is scamming customers.
I called Ray the Plumber when I punctured a copper water line with a sheetrock screw when renovating a bathroom. After agreeing to their $40 consultation fee, the plumber quoted me $300 for a job that he estimated would take 30-45 minutes. The required parts for the repair were less than $10.
I tried working with the plumber on price and he wouldn't budge. Needless to say, I told the guy to get lost but if I knew they were they were priced 3x the national average I would have never agreed to pay the consultation fee. I'm sure that most customers don't want to throw away $40 and will unhappily agree to pay their ridiculous rates.
To add insult to injury, I called the company to give them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe that particular plumber was bad; however, I never received a call back.
You've been warned!
